Coventry Model Engineering Society

Ryton Pools Miniature Railway is owned and operated by Coventry Model Engineering Society and is located at Ryton Pools Country Park near Bubbenhall in Warwickshire, England.

The Railway is open Sunday afternoons from 13.00 to 16.00 (weather permitting) from the first Sunday in April (or Easter if it’s in March) through until the end of September. We're also open on Bank Holidays and New Years day. We also open for special events throughout the year. For more information see our timetable.

If you'd like to ride on the railway, trains leave every 5 minutes from the station. Just turn up, buy a ticket and enjoy the ride. Everyone's welcome, under 3's must be accompanied by an adult but ride free.

Locos

Passenger trains are usually hauled by electric, steam or even petrol powered locomotives, a lot depends on how busy the railway is and the weather. Please keep an eye on the web site for any special events and our timetable.

The latest news from Ryton Pools Railway

Closed for 2025

Thank you to everyone who visited us in 2025 and had a ride on our railway. We are now closed until Easter Sunday 2026 (April 5th).

However, weather permitting, the Railway will be open on New Year’s Day, Thursday 1st January 2026, from 12:00 to 3:00pm for those who feel a need for some fresh air.

Timetable

The railway is open from 13:00 till 16:00 on Sunday afternoons & Bank Holiday Mondays (weather permitting) from the first Sunday in April (or Easter if it’s in March) through until the end of September. Trains depart from the station approx every 5 minutes

Ticket prices are £1.50 (under 3 with a paying adult are still free)

* During afternoons when Steam Trains are running just like in the golden age of steam this can be challenging and sometimes we have to retire a steam loco from service. We do our best to bring another steam loco back into service but this isn't always possible so we may revert back to using an electric loco to help keep the service flowing.

You don't have to be an engineer or even into engineering and you don't need previous knowledge or experience. You'll be shown how to do everything you need to help run the railway. The jobs are varied and appropriate for all ages, skills and abilities. You're never too young or too old to help run a railway.
